anderson dean (he/his) is an austin-based printmaker and artist. raised in dallas, he received a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin with a double major in art history and studio art. he served as manager of the ut riso room from 2021 through 2023, a risography lab in the printmaking department.
andy's work is rooted in nostalgic feelings of safety, love, comfort and intimacy; he reflects on his experiences with sexuality, the body, religion, and mysticism as he merges the mediums of printmaking and textiles. both ancient technologies with thousands of years of human tradition and craft, anderson is interested in using the physical nature of these mediums to explore themes of touch and tenderness. a gay transgender man, andy rests his emotional self in his work and seeks to archive and preserve queer existence through his printmaking and textile work.
